 About Party Cakes Whitsunday

Hi, my name is Vhari Kelly the founder of Party Cakes Whitsunday. I grew up on a farm in South Australia, and from the time I could read a recipe I have been passionate about cooking, especially cakes and biscuits. My brother in law often reminds me that since he has known me (when I was about eight years old) I had always wanted to be a chef.

I grew up baking cakes for my father at every spare chance, always trying out new recipes to excite him with what I was learning. When I left school my first job was as a station cook, where I could continue my passion of making cakes for the men’s lunches and morning and afternoon teas. After this I moved to Queensland and began my apprenticeship as a chef. I spent my four years of apprenticeship moving around from the Whitsunday islands to Airlie Beach. Learning to become a chef gave me the skills in speed, organisation and food safety.

Throughout my chefing career I have maintained my love for desserts, cakes and pastries. After a few years of being qualified, I started thinking about what was available in the way of cakes in Airlie Beach and surrounding areas. I was surprised to find there was little available apart from the local supermarkets. This is when I came up with my business idea. Airlie Beach needs a cake and sweets supplier with access for the general public. To provide cakes for not only birthdays and weddings, but also for common get togethers.

Party Cakes Whitsunday has grown and now has three employees, Mardi our trade qualified Pastry Chef, Kerry our expert cake decorator and Emily. Everyone is a non smoker, working as a team with me to create the most perfectly delicious cake for you.

I have new cake shop, display and baking kitchen at Shop 3/76 Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale, Airlie Beach. At the front of the shop I can personally meet with guests in comfort to discuss their cake ideas knowing everything will be perfectly organised for their dream cake. At the rear of the shop guests and view our open cake decoration kitchen and view actual cakes being decorated at that time. We have also completed a brand new kitchen within our shop. Fitted out with new oven, mixers and baking equipment.

Party Cakes Whitsunday now has the ability to bake, decorate and create the entire cake requirements for the Whitsundays, Bowen and Mackay, from stunning wedding cakes to small cafe cakes, all made in the one place, in our cake shop, decorating and baking kitchen.

Party Cakes Whitsunday is fully food safety certified with Whitsunday Regional Council and hold all appropriate certificates to operate as a cake making business.

I am confident that my business will grow as Airlie Beach and Whitsundays grow, and I hope to provide prompt, professional service with many delicious and eye catching creations!
